Montañita, Ecuador

Well, the lapse in time was not intentional rather due to a lack of funds and considering that internet is $1.50 per hour, I find that my income can not support such luxuries. I left from Mancora roughly three weeks ago with Julie and we decided that Montañita would be a great place to sell our jewlery while taking in more of the beach. We headed out on our 15 hour journey into Ecuador and we were stopped at immigration because Julie failed to reach the border before her visa expired. They were asking me for the money which I wasnt even close to having and ended up taking some Bolivianos that she had stored away after crossing over from Bolivia to Peru. So we headed on our way stopping at Guayaquil to change buses. I was able to take out money there and when we arrived I paid directly for the month in Montañita with Julie promising to pay me back when she got the money. The hostel is full of every insect imagineable and mosquitos come in swarms of thousands because we are settled at the base of the jungle. I have enormous spiders that dwell in my room and a rat that seems to snoop through everything when the lights are off... needless to say I sleep with the light on. As for Julie, she was there for a week and took off for another beach up the road about an hour... she never came back to the hostel so I ended up footing the bill for both of us. She showed up a few days ago with my necklaces she had taken for two weeks and appeared to not have any clue why I would be upset. In the end we decided to go seperate ways. When I arrived in Montañita I wasnt able to take out any money because the two ATMs that exist wont take my card. I headed out toward Libertad to see if it would work there but it was the same situation. I figure today Ill try for Selina and see if I can find an ATM that works with my credit card. I plan to head back down to Peru for the festival of `Inter Raymi´in Cuzco and from there I will head down to Bolivia. I have misplaced my camera and am still hoping that it will show up.
