Arin y El Valle Sagrado

I arrived the day before yesterday to a tiny pueblo called Arin which is located in the Valle Sagrado. There are few people and it gives me a chance to escape from the constant masses in Cusco. Three large bulls inhabit the outer flanks of the house and harvests of corn comsume the majority of the land around. Chica is the main drink and is also known as ¨la cerveza de los incas¨. The landscape seems to resemble the Rockies with snowcapped giants hanging in the background. The house I am staying at is rustic and was used prior by a traveling circus and still contains wild drawings and quotes that served to lift the spirits of the ¨Mochileros¨ that continue to pass through the house. Currently there is a costa riqueña couple that are giving free art classes to the local children, two argentinos and the two swisses that I had arrived with. Today we are going to go hiking through the valley trying to take in every precious moment that we can. The paths are lined on both sides with aging stone walls and give me a feeling that I am traveling back in time. It is truly a wonderful experience!
